Have questions?
You might be eating what you think is a healthy diet, but it may not be the right diet for you. In menopause, your body changes how it responds to various foods.
Your body metabolizes carbohydrates less efficiently, has less enzymes to extract nutrients from the food you eat, and responds to unhealthy foods with inflammation, leaving you feeling heavy, sluggish, and puffy. Does that sound familiar?
The Midlife to Great Life Method is a step-by-step system that will empower you with the knowledge and tools to reset your metabolism — so you burn fat rather than store fat. You will learn how to balance your hormones naturally. And you will identify your unique obstacles to wellness and vitality as you age.

1: Inflammation
You may have noticed more aches and pains than you did in your younger years. Perhaps you’ve noticed swelling in your fingers, or arthritis in your knees and hips. Instead of chalking it up to wear and tear, or brushing it off as just plain old age, consider that arthritis and inflammation are actually damaging your joints.
In this module, we’ll look at the science of inflammation and joint problems, the hormones that cause them, and how to prevent this from happening to you.
- The importance of eating an anti-inflammatory diet
- What “real” food is
- What inflammation is (did you know there’s good and bad kinds?)
- What chronic inflammation does to the body and how it contributes to weight gain
- The inflammatory foods to avoid
2: Macronutrients
Macronutrients are the three main compounds found in food: protein, fat, and carbohydrates. In this module, you will learn the proper proportion of macronutrients in your diet to promote weight loss.Ten different meal plans are available to choose from (including gluten, egg, or dairy free; vegetarian, vegan, or pescetarian).
In this module, you will learn:
- What are macronutrients
- The key macronutrient percentages
- How to plan meals based on macronutrients to promote weight loss
3: THE SKINNY ON FAT
Eating fat doesn't make you fat. Healthy fats are incredible for your body and in the correct ratio help you to actually burn fat. Learn all about healthy fats in this module.
Unfortunately, the food you eat today may not contain all the nutrients you need. And even if you are eating a super-healthy diet, your body may not be able to absorb all the nutrients it needs. Add to that challenge the stressors that most people face, and you have a body that is crying for more support. Supplements to the rescue.
- Which supplements you need — and don’t need
- Where to get quality supplements
- The foods, supplements, and lifestyle choices that best support the gut, liver, and adrenals
- What are the stress adaptogens
4: Microbiome
All disease begins in the gut. And all health begins there, too. That’s because your gut is the home to your microbiome, the huge collection of bacteria. This module shows you how to eat a gut-healthy diet, heal gut issues, and bring your microbiome back into balance. Most issues — such as inflammation, joint pain, excess weight, belly fat — will resolve, and hormones will come back into balance naturally
- All about your amazing microbiome
- How the microbiome affects the heart, immune system, endocrine system, stress, and genes
- The symptoms and causes of candida overgrowth and leaky gut
- How to heal and support your microbiome
5: HORMONAL BALANCE
Did you know that foods you eat together affect how they are digested? Different foods require different enzymes to be digested. If you eat the wrong foods together, your body may be unable to digest it, so it sits and putrefies in your stomach.
In this module, you’ll learn about proper food combining principles to ensure optimal digestion. You’ll also learn about how to start designing your own meal plans using food combining principles, macronutrients, and personal considerations.
- The importance of eating an anti-inflammatory diet
- The importance of properly combining foods to enhance digestion and promote weight loss
- How to plan your own healthy, anti-inflammatory meals
- The importance of chewing food to promote digestion and weight loss
6: Sleep
Sleep is required for repair and rejuvenation. Sleep deprivation leads to weight gain. Allowing your body to rest and rebuild on a nightly basis enables you to begin each day with energy and enthusiasm. Improving sleep habits enhances your quality of life and overall health.
In this lesson, we’ll cover how sleep is connected to your health and show you how to improve the quality of your sleep.
- Proper sleep “hygiene”
- Food and sleep
- Exercise and sleep
- Stress and sleep
- The link between sleep and weight loss
7: Stress Less
When stressed, your body releases hormones that help you get away, while halting other important bodily functions like thinking, digesting, and sensing. The problem is, your body can't tell the difference between the stress of an argument with a friend or being chased by a tiger. It's unlikely you've been chased by a tiger recently.
Most modern stress is emotional - your computer crashed, or you’re stuck in traffic. Unlike physical stressors, emotional stress can go on for days or weeks or months, and your stress response never really goes down. In this module, you’ll learn how stress is not a situation, but a reaction to an outside factor, and how to control your response to stress.
- How the stress response works in your body
- Stress and cortisol and their connection to weight gain
- How to develop new habits for managing stress
8: ELIMINATION SCHEDULE
Have you ever wondered why your aging parents, relatives or friends, become obsessed with their pooping schedule? It’s all they want to talk about! Whether you want to talk about it or not, your elimination pattern is impacted by — and can tell you a lot about — your health.
If you have noticed a change in your own elimination with menopause, resulting in bloating and weight gain, hardening of the stool, and slower transit time, you’ll find out how to address it in this module.
- The importance of eating an anti-inflammatory diet
- What is “normal” poop
- What is a healthy elimination schedule, or pattern
- Elimination tips
- About eating in “time restricted” windows or Intermittent Fasting
9: Hormone Balancing
Hormones affect every area of the body. Hormones don’t actually DO anything, but they tell receptors in all parts of your body what to do. Hormones are very complicated, so in this module I’m going to break down hormone function into simple-to-understand components AND show you the foods to eat to balance your hormones naturally.
In this module, you will learn about:
- What areas of the body can affect your hormones
- How stress and adrenals affect your hormones
- Food and lifestyle choices that impact hormone function
10: Eating Out & Joy
Look at you! You’re mastering food choices, supplements, lifestyle changes, and so much more. Now you’re ready to venture out to... a restaurant! This module prepares you with skills and tools for navigating eating when you aren’t at home: parties, dining out, and other situations where you have less control of food options, but can still stick to your healthy food choices.
- How to use the Dining Out guide to prepare for a party or restaurant eating
- Great tips for navigating restaurants
- Easy food swaps when eating out
- How to create more Joy in your life
11: CLEAN IT UP!
Toxins are all around us. I’m sure you are aware of the toxins in our air and water. But did you know there are probably many toxins in your own home, and on your body? How did they get there? Toxins are in many common products like cleaning solutions, personal care items, food storage items, and food.
In this module, you’ll learn how to identify toxins in your immediate environment, how to remove them, and what to replace them with.
- About the sources of toxins in food, the environment, and home and skin care products
- Why toxins are so bad: how they interfere with your microbiome and hormones
- How to use the Healthy Cleaning Guide to rid your home of toxins
- Alternatives to toxic products for a clean home
- How to get toxins out of your body
12: THE Finish Line
You should now have an awareness of how to eat to balance your hormones, and how to manage your stress and move your body so you feel amazing. It’s time to celebrate! In this module, we’ll review all you have accomplished and implement a maintenance program you can rely on.
In this module, you will learn:
- To apply all the principles you learned in the MLGL Method
- Maintain consistent eating habits every day of the week
- Manage your stress levels and emotions
- How to schedule, plan, shop and prepare to keep your new habits in place.
